A van has crashed into a number of pedestrians on the Strand in central London, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed.

Police said the incident, which happened close to the entrance to King’s College London at approximately 11:50 GMT, was not terror related.

Photographs taken at the scene show paramedics treating a person on the floor.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) and London Ambulance Service (LAS) are also in attendance.

LFB said two fire engines and about 10 firefighters from Dowgate and Lambeth fire stations have been called to the scene.

The Strand is closed from Surrey Street westbound to Waterloo Bridge. It is understood eastbound traffic can still use the road.
