In a setback for Shiv Sena (UBT), its former MLA from Ratnagiri Rajan Salvi resigned as the party’s deputy leader and is set to join Sena led by Eknath Shinde in Thane on Thursday. Last month, Salvi met Uddhav Thackeray amid reports of him quitting Sena (UBT) to join BJP or the Shinde Sena. In a letter to Uddhav, Salvi said, “I contested the 2024 assembly polls from Rajapur assembly constituency, and I take responsibility for the defeat. I am unable to do proper justice to the work of the post of deputy leader. So, taking moral responsibility for the defeat, I am resigning from my post.”
