Star Indian batter and former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Virat Kohli arrived in Bengaluru on Saturday ahead of the much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. The 36-year-old cricketing icon was spotted at the Bengaluru airport amid tight security, with videos of his arrival quickly going viral on social media.
Kohli, who remains the highest run-scorer in IPL history with a staggering 8,004 runs in 252 matches, is set to join the RCB camp shortly. The legendary batter, known for his fierce passion and relentless dedication, will be preparing to support the team as they gear up for the new season under the leadership of newly appointed captain Rajat Patidar.

The IPL 2025 season opener will see RCB take on the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens on March 22. Fans are eagerly anticipating the showdown, with RCB looking to make a strong start to the campaign.
Kohli was last seen in action during the ICC Champions Trophy, where India emerged victorious over New Zealand in the final, clinching the prestigious title for a record third time.

Earlier, on February 13, RCB officially announced Rajat Patidar as the new captain for the season, following Faf du Plessis’ tenure. Kohli, who led the franchise for many years before stepping down, expressed his pride and confidence in Patidar taking up the mantle.
In a heartfelt message shared by RCB, Kohli had said, “I’m here to inform everyone that Rajat Patidar is going to be the new captain of RCB. To grow into this role, of course, it is a big responsibility and I have done this for many years. Faf’s done it for the last few years. To be seen as the guy who will take this franchise forward, I am sure this is a great honour for you. I am very, very happy for you. You’ve earned the right to be in this position and I am sure you will grow from strength to strength.”

He further added, “I have seen Rajat evolve as a player in the last couple of years, got the chance to play for India. His game has improved many levels, and the way he has led his state team shows the responsibility he has taken. You’ve shown everyone what it takes to lead this amazing franchise.”
