The debate on whether television actors are too overexposed for films has existed in the entertainment industry for a long time. Recently, popular actress Tejasswi Prakash who is currently seen on Celebrity MasterChef India shared her views on the same during an interview. The Bigg Boss 15 winner also looked back at her experience of acting in films.

During a conversation with Pinkvilla, Tejasswi shared her experience of working in the Marathi film industry. She said, “Jab meine apne do films kii, they were really looking forward to working with me. Toh dono hi films mein unhone ayese nahi bola ki aap overexposed hain, kyunki dono films hi Marathi the.”

(When I acted in two of my Marathi films, the directors really wanted to work with me and they never said that I was overexposed. Perhaps, also because the films were in Marathi.)

However, she added that she has faced rejections in film auditions. She noted that casting directors would tell her, “Aapko itna dekh liya toh film mein abhi kyun jayenge.” (The audience has watched you so much on television, why would they go to watch you in a movie?)

Sharing her opinion, she said that she finds ‘No logic’ in this explanation. The actress said that television actors are exposed to the world because the audience wants to see more of them. “Agar mein kitna dikh rahi hu matlab log mujhe dekhna chahte hain,” she mentioned.

Tejasswi noted that things are changing to some extent as several influencers are bagging roles in the film industry. Thus, proving that having a personal viewership and fanbase helps.

The actress further added that the argument of ‘being overexposed’ is not the only reason for the lack of opportunities in the film industry, it is tough competition.

She said, “Industry mein itna competition hain, especially when it comes to girls my age, jinke parents khud actors hain. There’s so many of us that I cannot blame anybody.”

In conclusion, the actress said that she can only do what’s in her hand, that is ‘continue working hard’ and the rest, she prefers to leave on the almighty.

In the same interview, Tejasswi also spoke about her strong relationship with Karan Kundrra, Celebrity MasterChef and her journey in entertainment.
