South Sudan, Senegal, and Libya Top Africa’s Fastest-growing Economies in 2025

Africa is home to several of the world’s fastest-growing economies in 2025, largely driven by oil, gas, and mineral wealth. South Sudan leads with a projected GDP surge of 27.2%. However, an over-reliance on oil production, persistent conflicts, and infrastructure woes threaten to curtail this growth. Libya follows at 13.7%, benefiting from oil recovery, though political unrest remains a threat. Senegal’s economy is expected to grow by 9.3% due to recent offshore energy discoveries, while Sudan’s economy is projected to grow by 8.3% thanks to its gold and agriculture industries. Uganda (7.5%) and Niger (7.3%) are also expanding due to energy investments and mining. Meanwhile, Zambia, Benin, Ethiopia, and Rwanda each anticipate 6.5–6.6% growth, underpinned by diversification and infrastructure development.
