The festival of colours, Holi, is just around the corner. This vibrant festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm, and our favourite celebrities also love having a blast on this day. As the occasion is just a day away, actress Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia recently shared that she is back to playing Holi in all its colours after three years. In a candid conversation with a media portal, the Bigg Boss 16 fame shared her excitement to celebrate the festival, her plans after her debut Punjabi film Shaunki Sardar, and the reason why she didn’t sign another daily soap after getting an immense fan following after Chhoti Sardarni and Bigg Boss 16.

Speaking with Times of India, the actress said, “I have always been big on Holi! I am set to celebrate it again after three years. When I moved to Mumbai, I found some school and college friends settled here. So, during festivals, they’ve become a chosen family. We’ll celebrate on the terrace of my building. I am a fan of traditional sweets and Gujiyas… Somebody stop me (from eating them) please.”

In the same conversation, she was asked about her decision to not sign another daily soap despite the glorious success of Choti Sarrdaarni and finding a new fan base across Punjab.

Responding to this, she said, “Choti Sarrdaarni resonated with people even in Canada and the UK, and this led to offers from the Punjabi films. I am proud of my roots in TV, but I want to expand my horizons and challenge myself with different mediums.”

“I don’t want to be boxed in as just a TV actor and believe that comfort can hinder growth. I see myself thriving across all platforms, regardless of the medium. I thrive on creativity and want to explore nuanced roles. Being an Army kid, adventure runs in my blood,” Nimrit added.

She was also asked about her plans after the Punjabi movie. The media portal asked if she has plans to head south, following the lead of several Punjabi actresses. “I am open to any script if it portrays the woman in a light that resonates with my vision and values. It’s not about the scale of the project, but whether I feel I can contribute meaningfully. I want to play women characters that are authentic, relatable and powerful, rather than frivolous,” she said.

Coming to her upcoming Punjabi film, Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia is awaiting her big-screen debut with Shaunki Sardar. The film, slated to hit the theatres on May 16, features Guru Randhawa, Babbu Mann, Hasheen Chauhan, and Karina Sorella in pivotal roles. Helmed by Dheeraj Rattan and backed by Guru Randhawa’s production banner, 751 Films, the film is a story about love, loyalty, and cultural pride.
