PM Modi praises rapper Hanumankind for promoting 'traditional martial arts' in new song 'Run It Up'

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised Kerala-born rapper Sooraj Cherukat, known as Hanumankind, for promoting India’s traditional culture to the world through his latest song, ‘Run It Up.’
Addressing the 120th episode of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi said, “Our indigenous games are now becoming a part of popular culture. The new song of the renowned rapper Hanumankind, ‘Run It Up’, is becoming quite famous these days.”
“Our traditional Martial Arts like Kalari-payattu, Gatka and Thang-Ta have been included in it. I congratulate Hanumankind that due to his efforts people of the world are getting to know about our traditional martial arts,” he added.
Hanumankind’s latest track, ‘Run It Up’, has topped the Official Asian Music Chart for the third week in a row, following his breakout hit ‘Big Dawgs’, which briefly surpassed Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ on Spotify’s Top 50.
The music video celebrates India’s diverse culture, incorporating elements of folk traditions and traditional martial arts.
The prime minister further extended his wishes to the people on Chaitra Navratri, Eid, and other upcoming festivals.

“Today marks the beginning of Chaitra Navratri. Indian new year also begins today. Vikram Samvat 2082 also starts at this time. Many of your letters are kept in front of me right now. Some are from Bihar, Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat. These messages are in different languages… Gudi Padwa is being celebrated in Maharastra. The festival of Eid is also approaching. I extend my greetings to people of this country on these festivals,” he said.
He also encouraged students to explore new interests and enhance their abilities during the upcoming summer break.
“Exams are over and summer vacation is approaching. This is the time to adopt a new hobby as well as to further develop one’s skills. Today, there is no dearth of such platforms for children where they can learn a lot,” he added.
