PM Modi inaugurates GIS-2025 in Madhya Pradesh, Reliance to invest ₹60,000 crore


Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the mega ‘Invest Madhya Pradesh – Global Investors Summit-2025’ at Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya in Bhopal on Monday (February 24). He said the state gives ample opportunities of excellent returns for investor. Madhya Pradesh is among leading states in India’s electric vehicles revolution, he added.

Modi mentioned World Bank report which said India will continue to be world’s fastest growing economy in years to come.

Modi added that the speed of development in the state is doubled after ‘double engine’ government in the state. Both the Centre and the state has BJP-led government. “With a strong talent pool and thriving industries, Madhya Pradesh is becoming a preferred business destination,” Modi said.

PM Modi apologised at the summit for arriving late. “The delay happened because when I reached here yesterday, one thing came to my mind that today there is an exam for the students of class 10th and 12th and the timing of that was clashing with my leaving the Raj Bhavan. There was a possibility of roads getting closed which could lead to students reaching their examination centres late. Because of that, I delayed my leaving by 15-20 minutes. For your inconvenience, I once again apologise to you all.”

Modi also launched the industrial policies of Madhya Pradesh. The PM unveiled more than 18 new policies of the state, including those connected to industries, food, export, MSME, start-ups, GCC, semiconductor, drone, tourism and film production.

Reliance committed ₹60,000 crore to set up biofuel projects in the state.

Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani said the company will invest over ₹1.10 lakh crore in Madhya Pradesh for pumped storage, cement, mining, smart-meters and thermal energy. He said talks were underway with the state government for additional investment of ₹1 lakh crore.

Prominent industrialists taking part include Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani, Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani, Godrej Industries Limited Chairman and MD Nadir Godrej, Rasna Private Limited Group Chairman Piruz Khambatta, Bharat Forge Limited Chairman and MD Baba N Kalyani, Sun Pharmaceuticals Limited Global Head of Operations Rahul Awasthi and ACC Limited CEO Neeraj Akhouri.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will preside over the concluding session of GIS on February 25 and deliver the keynote address.
