World Theatre Day celebrates the rich history of theatre and honours the talented artists who bring stories to life on stage. On this special occasion, Diya Aur Baati Hum fame Neelu Vaghela revealed how theatre shaped her career. She shared a memorable experience from her childhood when she was just 11 years old and performed in a play called Supatra Binani. According to Neelu, the play was later turned into a film and that’s how her journey as an actor began. She believes that performing live on stage teaches an actor to express emotions authentically and allows them to play various characters.

As per Filmi Beat, the actress said, “Theater holds great importance in my life because I started my journey as a theatre artist. It gave me confidence, rhythm and a strong command over body language. Performing on stage in front of a live audience teaches you to express emotions in a raw and real way. Theatre allows you to portray a variety of characters, making it easier to transition into television and films. The confidence and experience gained from theatre help an artist grow in every medium of storytelling.”

“My most memorable theatre experience was when I performed in Supatra Binani at just 11 years old. That same play was later turned into a film, which became the beginning of my career. Theatre has always influenced storytelling, and even today, many old dramas are being adapted into modern formats like web series and OTT content. Training in theatre is like a foundation that strengthens an artist’s skills. Whether through workshops or stage performances, it plays a huge role in shaping an actor’s journey,” Neelu Vaghela added.

After working in shows like Diya Aur Baati Hum and its sequel Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji, Neelu went on to appear in other hit daily soaps, such as Main Maike Chali Jaungi Tum Dekhte Rahiyo, Shaadi Mubarak, Aye Mere Humsafar, Laal Banarasi, Mera Balam Thanedaar and Saajha Sindoor. She is currently playing the role of Rajeshwari Devi in Shemaroo Umang’s Main Dil Tum Dhadkan.
