A man who admitted stalking Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Tweedy has been jailed for 16 weeks.
Daniel Bannister, 50, of no fixed address, targeted the pop star, who uses the stage name Cheryl, at her home in the Chalfonts area of Buckinghamshire.
The defendant was already the subject of a restraining order relating to the singer, and he admitted breaching it and attempting to breach it at an earlier hearing.
Tweedy saw him on a security camera at her home in December 2024 and was “frightened”, the sentencing hearing at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court was told.
District Judge Arvind Sharma imposed a new indefinite restraining order against Bannister.
The defendant had been remanded in custody ahead of sentencing.
In a statement read to the court, Tweedy said she “immediately panicked” upon seeing Bannister at her home.
