Mamta Kulkarni resigns from Kinnar Akhada role: "Egoistic people have a problem with me" - Video

Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni, who was recently appointed as Mahamandaleshwar by the Kinnar Akhada, has stepped down from the role amid backlash and internal conflicts. The decision came after widespread criticism questioning her spiritual authenticity and her past association with the film industry. The Kinnar Akhada also expelled Kulkarni and her mentor, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, citing tensions within the religious organization.

In a video accessed, Kulkarni announced her resignation, offering a scathing account of the controversy. “I, Mahamandaleshwar Yamai Mamta Nandgiri, am resigning from this post,” she declared. “The respect given to me was for my 25 years of penance, but some people have a problem with me being Mahamandaleshwar.”
She expressed frustration at being judged for her past in Bollywood. “I left Bollywood 25 years ago and disappeared on my own. Who stays so far away from makeup and glamour otherwise?” she questioned.
Kulkarni emphasized her spiritual journey, claiming she had no need to seek validation from those criticizing her. “My Guru, Shri Chaitanya Gagangiri Maharaj, was a Siddha Mahapurush. I have done 25 years of penance with him. I don’t need to go to Kailash, Manasarovar, or the Himalayas because all worlds are already in front of me.”
She hinted at ego-driven politics within the Akhada, stating, “These people are egoistic and disconnected from Brahma Vidya. They fight among themselves and have no understanding of true knowledge.”
Kulkarni also touched upon financial controversies surrounding her appointment. “When I was asked for two lakhs, I didn’t have it. Jai Ambagiri Mahamandaleshwar gave it from his pocket. The money I have comes from deep penance, not material pursuits.”
In her closing remarks, she gracefully handed back her title. “This post was a certificate for sharing knowledge, but perhaps it’s a sign that I should step away. I am returning it with gratitude. Namaste.”
