Television personality Kim Jong Kook is no stranger to laughter-inducing moments on national TV, but his latest antics have taken things to a whole new level. In a recent episode of SBS’s Whenever Possible, the veteran entertainer found himself in hot water, and on his knees, after an epic blunder involving BLACKPINK’s Jisoo. The episode reportedly featured a quiz game where participants had to identify singers based on flashed images. When Kim Jong Kook’s turn came, the screen displayed none other than Jisoo, one of the most famous female idols on the planet. Instead of confidently naming her, Kim Jong Kook hesitated, blurting out, “Who is this?” His teammates, visibly shocked, quickly shouted her name, “It’s Jisoo!”
Realising his mistake, Kim Jong Kook wasted no time making amends. He dramatically climbed onto the table and dropped to his knees, pleading, “Please spare me, just this once.” His over-the-top apology left everyone in the room doubled over with laughter.
According to Koreaboo, the comedy didn’t end there. Attempting to justify his error, Kim Jong Kook exclaimed, “I know it’s Jisoo, but show me a picture of her on stage!” His teammate, Cha Tae Hyun, couldn’t hide his disbelief, exclaiming, “Don’t you know BLACKPINK’s Jisoo?”
Even Kim Jong Kook’s close friend Mingyu from SEVENTEEN wasn’t safe from his streak of misidentifications. When shown a photo of Mingyu, who has even appeared on Kim Jong Kook’s YouTube channel, he drew another blank. Yoo Jae Suk, the quick-witted host, scolded him, saying, “How can you not know SEVENTEEN?”
Kim Jong Kook, desperate to redeem himself, turned to the camera and pleaded, “Mingyu, don’t misunderstand!”
The chaos didn’t stop there. When a photo of Highlight member Yoon Doo Joon appeared, Kim Jong Kook confidently shouted, “Tae!”—another wrong answer. His explanation? “I only recognise Doo Joon when he’s playing soccer!” The room erupted into laughter once again.
Finally, redemption came in the form of BTS’ V. When presented with V’s photo, Kim Jong Kook, seemingly confident, shouted, “Taehyung!” and clutched the image as if it were a lifeline. “I shouted V’s name like I was possessed. I think I was preparing for my own execution,” he later joked.
The episode not only showed Kim Jong Kook’s hilariously chaotic energy but also provided countless laughs for viewers.
Meanwhile, Jisoo continues to be a hot topic, not just as a global idol but also for her upcoming K-drama Newtopia, which has fans buzzing with excitement.
