The latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 featured IIM Bengaluru student Ishanjali Madaan, who impressed host Amitabh Bachchan with her performance. The 21-year-old secured a spot on the hot seat after winning the Fastest Finger First round. Big B lauded Ishanjali for founding a community called You Inspire, aimed at supporting students. “I built a family of almost 370 students. I earned nearly Rs 3.5 lakh in a year, funded my tuition fees, covered my sister’s education and even bought a laptop. During that time, I also helped my family with household expenses,” she revealed.
During the show, a resume highlighting her academic and extracurricular accomplishments was displayed, including her impressive 99.89 percentile in the CAT exam.
The game began with a Rs 1,000 question:
“What colour is the yolk of a chicken’s egg normally?”
A. Green
B. Red
C. Yellow
D. Blue
Ishanjali confidently chose option C—Yellow—which was correct.
Adding a humorous touch, Amitabh Bachchan shared a childhood memory. “When I was in nursery, I was made to dress up as a baby hen, complete with wings and all,” he recalled.
In the Super Sandook round, she won Rs 70,000 and decided to bank it. Host Bachchan noted that she was the first contestant to request this without using any lifelines, suggesting that it might be useful for tougher questions later.
As the game progressed, Ishanjali used the Double Dip lifeline for the Rs 12,50,000 question and answered correctly. However, she also used her final lifeline for the Rs 25 lakh question.
For the Rs 50 lakh question, she was asked:
In which event did the co-founder of the modern Olympics, Pierre de Coubertin, win a gold medal at the 1912 Olympics?
A. Painting
B. Music
C. Literature
D. Architecture
Unwilling to risk the prize money she had already won, Ishanjali decided to quit the game. However, when asked to take a guess, she chose option C—Literature—which turned out to be correct!
Speaking about her winnings, Ishanjali revealed that she has a Rs 28 lakh loan. “I have won almost the same amount. I would like to invest in my business to generate more employment,” she added.
