Bigg Boss 18 winner Karan Veer Mehra recently shared an emotional post crediting the talent of his friend and late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Karan Veer who shared the screen with Sushant in Pavitra Rishta posted a photo of Sushant with Rajkummar Rao, Amit Sadh and Abhishek Kapoor from the sets of Kai Po Che. Along with it, he wrote, “12 years of this masterpiece. Miss you Sushi.”
2013’s Kai Po Che, directed by Abhishek Kapoor, marked Sushant’s debut in Bollywood. The critics and audience were widely impressed by his natural acting and the film became an early landmark in his illustrious filmography. Sushant’s fans were deeply moved by Karanveer’s post and many reminisced about his spectacular contribution to films in a short time.
Sushant and Karan worked in the popular TV serial Pavitra Rishta and soon developed a strong friendship. In a recent interview with ETimes, the actor remembered his close bond with Sushant, saying, “Sushant used to genuinely praise me and believe in me more than I did. Ye kaise keh sakta hai ke main isse better hoon. (How could he say I was better than him.) He was one of the top stars in the country and still he said I was better than him. He would say, ‘bus mujhe chance mil gaya, tu hota toh tu bahot sahi karta,’” (I just got a chance, you would have surely done better).
He further added how Sushant used to boost his confidence. “It’s very big of him to say, main nahi bol paaunga shayad. When your family members do that like your mother, they do it out of love. But when he used to say all those things to me, ek alag confidence aata tha mere andar. (It’s one thing for your family to talk so highly about you. But Sushant praising me to that extent would really boost my confidence.)
After Kai Po Che, Sushant appeared in several Bollywood films, including Detective Byomkesh Bakshi, Raabta, Shudh Desi Romance, and MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. His last film was Dil Bechara alongside Sanjana Sanghi which was released in 2020.
