BHILWARA: Eight friends from Rajasthan’s Mandalgarh constituency in Bhilwara district, who were on their way to attend the Mahakumbh, died in a road accident near Jaipur on Thursday.
On Friday, their bodies were brought to their ancestral villages—Badliyas, Falasiya, and Mukundpuriya—for cremation in a sorrowful atmosphere. In Badliyas village, five pyres were lit together, bringing tears to everyone’s eyes.
The group had set out on Thursday morning in an Eco car for the Mahakumbh. Near Jaipur, they met with a fatal road accident, sending shockwaves across the district.
After post-mortem examinations at Dudu sub-district hospital, their bodies were returned to their ancestral villages on Friday morning.
Five of the deceased—Dinesh, Narayan, Ravikant, Kishanlal, and Mukesh—were from Badliyas, while two were from Falasiya and one from Mukundpuriya. The funerals were held in a deeply mournful atmosphere.
Badliyas village observed a complete shutdown in mourning as the five young men were cremated. Shops remained closed, and no cooking was done as residents gathered for the funeral rites.
Five pyres were lit simultaneously at Moksha Dham, leaving the entire community in tears.
Bhilwara District Collector Jasmeet Singh Sandhu visited Badliyas to console the grieving families and assured them of prompt compensation from the state government. He stated that with the completion of post-mortem and FIR reports, the necessary documentation would be finalized to provide financial assistance within a day or two.
