Actors often find themselves at the receiving end of social media backlash, whether for their public statements or the roles they portray on screen. Ishita Ganguly, currently seen as the antagonist Chamkeeli in Shemaroo Umang’s Badi Haveli Ki Chhoti Thakurain, recently shared how she deals with online trolling and negative comments.
In an interview with ETimes, she said, “To be honest, they don’t affect me as much. I’ve realised that negativity is unavoidable in this field. Not everyone will like what you do, and that’s fine. I choose to concentrate on the love and support I receive from my followers and well-wishers.”
Furthermore, she emphasised that playing a negative role like Chamkeeli on-screen often invites unwanted criticism from the audience. “I know people are very interested in the show and my character, which is a positive thing. If Chamkeeli is making them frustrated, it means I’m doing my job correctly,” she said with a laugh.
Talking about her role, the actress explained that her character Chamkeeli is both cunning and ruthless. “She will go to any extent to maintain her dominance in the family. Whether it’s lies, manipulation, or clever moves she always has a plan up her sleeve,” Ishita said.
“At the end of the day, I’m an actress whose job is to entertain. I’d rather focus my energy on delivering the best performance than worrying about unnecessary negativity,” the actress concluded.
Set against the backdrop of a stunning haveli, the series explores the complex relationships, societal pressures and personal struggles of its characters. The show recently premiered on Shemaroo Umang.
With its engaging storyline, impressive cast and high production values, Badi Haveli Ki Chhoti Thakurain has generated significant buzz among viewers.
