Sumbul Touqeer is not staying silent when it comes to body-shaming. The Imlie actress and Bigg Boss 16 alum, known for actively sharing glimpses of her life on social media, recently faced criticism over her weight gain. Trolls made harsh remarks about her appearance, leaving her frustrated. In response, Sumbul took to social media with a bold message, addressing the negativity head-on.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, Sumbul wrote, “I’ve been reading many comments and tweets from a few Victoria’s Secret models about my weight and appearance, and I can say that I’ve never been more mad in my life. I am very politely asking you to stop and let me live my life in peace. If you think I’m ruining my life, let me. I know what I’m doing, and I’m tired now.”

She also opened up about the real reason behind her weight gain. “P.S. The reason for my sudden weight gain was medication prescribed by a neurologist and a psychiatrist, which did not suit me. SHUT UP NOWWWWW!!!!” Sumbul wrote.

Sumbul started her acting career at a young age. She appeared in supporting roles as a child artiste in Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal and Jodha Akbar in 2014. She also starred in Ayushmann Khurrana’s film Article 15. Soon after, Sumbul landed her first lead role in television with the show Imlie.

The show turned out to be a major breakthrough for her. Playing the role of a bright and determined village girl, Sumbul won hearts across the country. In 2022, Sumbul participated in the popular reality show Bigg Boss 16 hosted by Salman Khan. She managed to stay in the game for a long time and eventually finished in seventh place.

Sumbul was last seen in Kavya – Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon, which premiered on September 25, 2023. In it, Sumbul portrayed an IAS officer who fought against societal norms while trying to balance her work and personal life. The show had a strong run for nearly a year before going off-air.

Looking ahead, Sumbul is set to appear in Jaadu Teri Nazar, produced by Gul Khan. While she won’t be in a lead role, Sumbul will be making a special cameo in the series. The show is expected to premiere this month.
