Last date for admission in IGNOU programmes extended to March 31, 2025

IGNOU admission 2025: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the last date for admission to its academic programmes. Students now have until March 31, 2025, to apply, except for certificate and semester-based programmes. The extension offers a valuable opportunity for those who missed the earlier deadline or need more time to complete their application process.
The admission portal for Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode programmes is available at http://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in, while applications for online mode programmes can be submitted at http://ignouiop.samarth.edu.in. The online admission process is open for the January 2025 session, giving students the chance to enrol in a range of academic programmes offered by IGNOU.
Admission process and eligibility
To apply, candidates must first register through the respective admission portal. New users should click on the “New Registration” button and fill out the necessary details. Applicants must create a DEB ID, which is mandatory for submitting their application. Existing users can directly log in to complete their application.
As part of the application process, students need to upload a few scanned documents, such as a photograph, signature, educational qualifications, experience certificate (if applicable), and category certificate (for SC/ST/OBC candidates). Applicants are also required to pay the registration fee via credit card, debit card, or net banking. It’s important to note that the fee paid is non-refundable, except under specific circumstances.
Cancellation and refund policy
In case a student wishes to cancel their application, the option is available through the applicant’s login. However, cancellation is irreversible, and the application cannot be restored once cancelled. A refund, if applicable, will be processed as per university rules, with a 15% deduction of the programme fee (up to Rs. 2,000) if the cancellation request is made after confirmation of admission.
