JAIPUR: A 17-year-old Class 12 student was found hanging from a tree in Tonk district Friday, with a suicide note in his pocket naming two teachers and two villagers as responsible for his death. His he family members and local residents staged a protest Saturday, demanding immediate action against those mentioned in the note.
The student, Abhishek Vaishnav, a Class 12 student at govt senior secondary school in Barol village, was last seen leaving home after school. When villagers later found him hanging from a tree about a kilometre away, they alerted police and his family. Officers removed his body and recovered the handwritten note from his pocket.
Villagers and family members gathered outside Malpura hospital’s mortuary, insisting on arrests before allowing the postmortem. Tensions peaked Saturday morning when police attempted to have a postmortem conducted, prompting another protest. Villagers demanded compensation of Rs 1 crore and a govt job for a family member. The standoff ended around 2pm after officials assured action.
In the note, Abhishek named his schoolteachers, Kishan Choudhary and Ganesh Choudhary, along with two villagers, Mukesh Rolanian and Ratan Rolanian. “I have been harassed,” he wrote, adding that his phone was with the two villagers. He also mentioned a girl named Pooja and urged police to hold those responsible accountable.
Pachewar police station in-charge Mukesh Choudhary said a case would be registered on the family’s complaint. “We will proceed with legal action after further investigation,” he said.
