Ghana and Morocco Announce Plans to Eliminate Visa Requirements


Accra and Rabat are moving to scrap visa requirements for travelers between Ghana and Morocco to boost diplomatic and economic ties. According to Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the agreement will soon be presented to the parliaments of both countries for ratification. Ablakwa, who met with Morocco’s ambassador to Ghana Imane Ouaadil, revealed that both nations also pledged deeper cooperation in agribusiness, tourism, and security. Furthermore, Morocco doubled its annual scholarship slots for Ghanaian students from 90 to 180, providing more Ghanaians access to free education in its universities. Separately, Ablakwa held talks with Russia’s ambassador to Ghana during which they discussed bilateral cooperation between Accra and Moscow.
