The television heartthrob Parth Samthaan is set to play ACP Ayushmaan in CID, marking his return to the small screens after five years.

The beloved TV series CID has turned a new chapter as veteran actor Shivaji Satam, who played ACP Pradyuman since the show’s premiere in 1998, has exited. With his character being killed by Barbosa, the leader of the nefarious Eye Gang, in the second season of the show, the makers introduced a new lead, ACP Ayushmaan. The television heartthrob Parth Samthaan is set to play the character, marking his return to the small screens after five years.
After it was confirmed that ACP Pradyuman’s character would be killed off and replaced by a much younger Parth Samthaan, reactions from fans flooded social media. The news left many stunned and split in opinion. While some welcomed Parth’s entry with optimism, others were visibly upset.
One fan expressed their disappointment, writing, “Seriously? They still have Abhijeet and Daya—icons who’ve been part of CID for over two decades. And instead of letting them lead, they bring in a random guy? And he doesn’t even have the aura or screen presence to carry that legacy. What a joke!”
Another added, “Abhijeet is literally the next of kin and then Daya, but they choose a random young guy wtf is this writing???? Also, why can’t they retire this iconic character?? Let DCP Chitrole take charge.”
“Parth Samanthan is very young for this role, and no one can beat our iconic and legendary character, ACP Pradhyuman. CID will be remembered for ACP Pradhyuman. Without ACP Pradhyuman, this show is nothing. He is the backbone of this show,” wrote a different user.
Someone else penned, “What a downfall…this guy can’t match the aura of Shivaji sir…bring back ACP Pradyuman.”
Meanwhile, Parth’s fans were ecstatic on his return to the small screen. Sharing their thoughts on his new role as ACP Ayushmaan, one of his fans wrote, “He is back where he belongs— on our screens, stealing hearts and commanding respect. ACP Ayushmaan is the role, but Parth Samthaan magic is what makes it unforgettable.”
“The aura, the elegance, the looks, the talent, he is sheer perfection. Parth Samthaan as ACP Ayushmaan? He is redefining the cop genre with class, charisma, and command!” wrote a different fan.
Speaking about his new role in CID, Parth Samthaan told Saas Bahu Aur Betiyaan, “It’s a very big responsibility to fill such humongous shoes. I’m not stepping into ACP Pradyuman’s character—this is a new story, a new persona.”
