Bhopal homemaker dies after son makes her drink kerosene in bid to ‘cure’ paralysis
The son gave her kerosene following advice, leading to deterioration in her condition and eventual death.

BHOPAL: A woman died after her son made her drink kerosene, believing that it would heal her and she would recover from her paralysis attack.
Kamla Nagar police, investigating the death of a 48-year-old woman, registered a case on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against her son.
When her condition deteriorated, she was rushed to a hospital, where she died while undergoing treatment a week later on Monday.
Investigation officer head constable Kamlesh Yadav said that the deceased, Mangla Bamnere, 48, a resident of the Ganga Nagar slum area, was a homemaker. Her son, Umesh Bamnere, 32, works as a scrap dealer.
HC Kamlesh said that on January 28, Mangla suffered a paralysis attack and was rushed to a hospital in Nariyalkheda in Gautam Nagar. Umesh said that somebody advised him that if he fed kerosene to his mother, she would recover from paralysis. He made his mother consume some kerosene, after which her condition started deteriorating. He rushed her to a private hospital, from where she was shifted to AIIMS hospital.
Acting on information received from the hospital, police recorded the statements of the woman.
She revealed that her son made her consume kerosene. After her death, police registered a case against the woman’s son and started investigations against him in the case.
