Astrologer Greenstone Lobo has predicted a good period for young cricketer Shubman Gill, who has been recently appointed vice-captain of the Indian team for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. But the most important question is whether Gill can emerge as a successful captain and an effective leader for India in the future.
In his special series, ‘StarPlay: Cricket & Astrology’ for TOI Sports, Lobo shared a detailed picture of Gill’s astrological analysis and what it could mean for the India vice-captain.

“Gill was born in the late 90s and September born. He has a very powerful horoscope. So obviously you know him being a vice captain’s choice or maybe even in future a captain’s choice is justified in some way.
People who are born in the late 90s, you know, post 1997 they have Pluto in something called a grey lizard avatar. Grey lizard is an avatar where great extraordinary leaders are born who will go on to fight some exemplary battles and win against the greatest of odds. So yes, the choice of the vice captain, the captain material is good but the next important question is that is the timing correct especially from the astrology perspective,” said Lobo.
“This 2023 World Cup was won by Australia and the captain was Pat Cummins born in the year 1993. There is a very, very high chance that the next World cup can be won by a captain born in the year 1993 or maybe 1994 India. If we need to have our chances higher of winning a major ICC trophy, especially a World cup then we need to have a captain who’s born in the 1993-94 leading us into the World cup in 2027. So then that is when we have the highest chances. You know, there is a logical progression of the years when a leader can win tournaments and it cannot jump suddenly from 1993 to 1997 because the ’93 patch is extremely powerful and it can produce more than one World cup winning champion,” Lobo further explained.
According to Lobo this is not the right time to make Gill captain, but he certainly has a bright future post 2027.
“Do we have options? Yes, we have some very good options. We have KL Rahul born in 1992 with a phenomenal horoscope. We have Hardik Pandya, we have Jasprit Bumrah, both of them born in 1993. And we also have Shreyas Iyer born in 1994. All of them have extremely powerful shards and they have the capacity to take it forward when we already have like four captaincy material, you know, who have a higher chance of bringing us a World cup then making Shubman Gill the captain is not right at this point of time.
Okay, so maybe after the 2027 World Cup then he can probably become the captain and lead us in the next World Cup. But in the next World Cup, probably in the 2031 World Cup, probably then you know, he will become a major force and he would have a higher chance to win a World Cup. So does it mean that Gill shouldn’t be captain at all? No, no, no, not at all. I’m not saying that,” said Lobo.
Gill aims to maintain his impressive form in the upcoming England series and the Champions Trophy as he prepares to be part of the leadership group in an ICC event for the first time.
