Usha Nadkanri broke down as she recalled celebrating festivals alone due to her busy work schedule.

Celebrity MasterChef, the Farah Khan-hosted cooking-based reality show, has captivated the audience with its unique concept and reality drama. We have often seen participants sharing their life challenges and struggles on the show which makes the viewers emotional. In the recent promo, contestant and veteran actress Usha Nadkanri was seen fighting back tears as she remembered her late younger brother and how he helped her raise her son.
In the clip, the judges were seen giving a new task to all the contestants – preparing a dish that they usually eat during festivals. The Michelin star Chef Vikas Khanna emphasised the significance of Indian-cooked food during occasions, especially for those who live outside the country.
As Usha began cooking her dish, she mentioned that she was celebrating Ganpati Utsav. During a conversation, Vikas asked the Pavitra Rishta actress why she always mentioned that she celebrated the festivals alone. To which, Usha responded that her son used to live with her brother and that she was never able to stay at home due to her work commitments.
Furthermore, she talked about how her mother and younger brother took care of her son. Usha got extremely emotional as she remembered the passing away of her brother on June 30, 2024. She said, “My younger brother, who was my life, passed away. Uski yaad bohot aati hai (I miss him a lot).”
Upon hearing her story, Chef Vikas also became emotional and shared the significance of Diwali for him, and how he was alone in New York during the festival after his sister passed away. As the video progressed, Vikas hugged Usha and consoled her by calling her ‘Amazing’.
The promo was shared on social media under the caption, “Tyohar sajenge aaj plate pe! An emotional day in the Celebrity MasterChef kitchen.”
Until now, contestants Chandan Prabhakar and Abhijeet Sawant have been eliminated from the show. The list of remaining contestants includes Nikki Tamboli, Usha Nadkarni, Faisal Shaikh, Dipika Kakar, Rajiv Adatia, Gaurav Khanna, Tejasswi Prakash, Kabita Singh and Archana Gautam. Moreover, celebrity chefs Vikas Khanna and Ranveer Brar are seen as the judges. Celebrity MasterChef airs on Sony TV from Monday to Friday at 8 PM.
