NEW DELHI: Known for his calm and composed demeanor, former Indian cricket captain and coach Rahul Dravid found himself at the center of an unexpected controversy after a verbal altercation with an auto driver on Cunningham Road near the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The incident, which followed a minor collision, has since gone viral on social media.
A video surfaced on Tuesday evening showing Dravid in a rare public outburst, engaging in a heated exchange with the auto driver after their vehicles made contact. Although no injuries were reported, the confrontation caught the attention of bystanders and quickly became a trending topic online.

Dravid, who is currently in his hometown ahead of his upcoming stint with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), was reportedly taken aback by the sudden braking of the auto-rickshaw. According to reports, this left him with little time to react, leading to the minor crash. While the poor audio quality of the video leaves the exact words exchanged unclear, onlookers claim that Dravid was attempting to explain that the accident was not his fault.

Reports from Indiatimes suggest that the auto driver, speaking in Kannada, eventually admitted fault but also remarked that Dravid could have done more to prevent the collision. Following the exchange, Dravid reportedly took down the driver’s details before leaving the scene.
The incident has also reignited references to the popular “Indiranagar ka gunda” campaign, a throwback to Dravid’s uncharacteristically aggressive avatar in a past advertisement with Cred. Social media users were quick to draw parallels, humorously linking his rare public display of anger to the viral ad.
