Ahead of PM Gati Shakti’s third anniversary on October 13, 2024, CNBC-TV18 reported that the government may soon open it for private players to enhance planning and cost optimisation. However, authorities are working to segregate sensitive data before wider sharing. As of October 2024, 208 projects worth ₹15.39 lakh crore have been approved under the Network Planning Group. The government is also conducting an impact assessment by tracking cost savings across projects while addressing challenges such as data updates and expanding the user base.
The PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP) is also set to be used for international infrastructure projects, with MoUs planned with Nepal and Sri Lanka. The government has clarified that the platform will not be a revenue-generating tool for neighbouring countries. Additionally, efforts are underway to integrate Gati Shakti into district-level planning, with collaboration between the Union government and states to incorporate land record data.
